TENUTA SAN GUIDO, BOLGHERI SASSICAIA |
Started with cuttings from Château Lafite, production here resembles the 'Grand Château' of Bordeaux in that they produce a second and third wine from the selection that does not make the Grand Vin as well as from younger vines. The first break-away wine, the original Super-Tuscan. In production since the 1940s, the first commercial vintage was released in 1968. DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia was granted in 1994. |

AZIENDA LE MACCHIOLE, BOLGHERI |
The vineyards were first experimentally planted with a host of varietals in order to better understand the micro-climates they had in their vineyards and to determine what wines to produce. Today they make four red wines from three black grape varietals and are recognised as one of the most prestigious estates in Bolgheri. |

TENUTA DELL'ORNELLAIA, BOLGHERI |
Sassicaia was followed in 1985 by the inaugural vintage of Ornellaia. Today, the competition between the two is tight. Sassicaia was historically unrivalled until Ornellaia started to outperform in certain vintages. In 1991 Michel Rolland was hired as a consultant. In 2002 Mondavi and Frescobaldi owned majority shares. Since 2008 Frescobaldi is the sole-owner. |

It took so long to conclude negotiations that Angelo Gaja named it "the house of endless negotiations" or Ca' Marcanda. There are two distinct soil types on the property. TENUTA TIGNANELLO, CHIANTI CLASSICO |
Sassicaia may have started it all, but it was Tignanello that truly broke the mold being an estate in the heart the Chianti zone, who in 1971 refused to follow the stipulated blending regulations. The locals found it disrespectful at first. Today Tignanello could be classified as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG, a new quality-level introduced in 2014 retrospectively from the 2011 vintage. Solaia is produced since 1978 from a separate vineyard also within Chianti Classico. |

Second generation vineyards and winery.
